College Access Program

At Boys & Girls Club of the Foothills, one of our goals is to establish a college-going culture in which members understand and embrace post-secondary education. We want them to see that college is attainable and essential to their personal and professional development.

About Our College Access Program

Diplomas 2 Degrees is for youth ages 13 to 18. It provides members with the guidance, skills, and knowledge needed for college preparation and success. We help participants:

  • Establish short and long-term goals.
  • Explore different types of post-secondary institutions.
  • Secure financial assistance.
  • Foster relationships with caring adult mentors throughout their academic experience.

College Access Opportunities

Three Main Workshops Throughout the School Year

  1. Early planning for college introduces the idea of higher education, outlines our services, discusses career exploration, and explains how to evaluate college options.
  2. Application and financial aid processes details how to apply for admission and seek financial support for college.
  3. Final Q&A gives students and parents the chance to ask questions about common concerns and challenges, prepare for the next step, and celebrate milestones.

Programs by Age

Boys & Girls Club of the Foothills holds events for different age groups to support their individual needs in college preparation. We assist members with the hands-on mechanics of meeting college requirements, researching possibilities, and filling out admission applications.

College Tours

BGCF coordinates campus tours of local universities for members. This allows them to get a concrete idea of what college life has to offer and helps to motivate their application efforts.

Mentoring

The Club enlists volunteers as tutors and mentors to provide members with academic support and other assistance to accomplish their goals.

If you or your child is interested in our College Access Program, we invite you to become a member of BGCF or to explore all of our educational programs.
